I am a 53 yr old female who has been very active in sports all my life. Approx. 5 yrs ago, I was having alot of problems with my knees. I finally said enough was enough and realized that my knee pain was impacting my ability to participate in sports and even walking was a chore. I tried injections and medication and still struggled with the daily pain. Finally, I met Dr. Toman and he agreed that a total knee replacement would give me the quality of life I was looking for. Alot of doctors wanted me to wait 10 more yrs due to my age, but I felt that this was the time in my life when I wanted to be active and not be limited in movement. Who knows how long you have on this earth, so why lose 7 yrs of my life. Today I am 12 weeks post surgery and I feel great. I walk 5 miles a day without PAIN. I have returned to the gym and I am amazed at how I feel. I am now ready to have my other knee operated on. Dr. Toman is extremely caring and professional doctor and I am really happy that I found him. Don’t be afraid to have a knee replaced. So what if I have to do this in 15 to 20 yrs again, at least I am able to do what I want to do today.
